Linda Chavez-Thompson A former Executive Vice-President of the National AFL-CIO,she was the first woman and the first person of color to hold that position. She was appointed to President Bill Clinton’s Race Advisory Board, and the President’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities. In 2004, the American Association of People with Disabilities’ (AAPD) created an award in her name to recognize commitment to those with disabilities within the labor movement.
