The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that corporations can spend as much as they want to support or oppose any candidate for public office.
Further entrenching the “rights” of big business, the court used the guise of free speech protections to strike down the Bi-partisan law know as the McCain-Feingold Campaign Reform.
“We find no basis for the proposition that, in the context of political speech, the government may impose restrictions on certain disfavor speakers,” Anthony Kennedy wrote.
Although a clear victory for Republicans, today’s ruling only makes me prouder of our duly-elected President, who won the White House with the overwhelming support of every-day Americans like us. Not by lining his pockets with corporate hand-outs.

I’m shocked by this SCOTUS decision, just as I’m shocked by the so-called “propositions” found on the Republican Party of Texas’ primary election ballot. One calls for forcing a woman to look at a sonogram of her fetus before she can have a legal abortion.
I think the Democrats of Texas, the League of Women Voters, and the ACLU of Texas should all take a strong position against these rulings.
